Founded as general contractors in 1966, HENRY H. LEWIS CONTRACTORS, LLC has flourished over the years by enjoying the greatest compliment its clients could bestow: repeat business. By focusing on metropolitan Baltimore's most venerable institutions - private schools, colleges, churches, and medical care facilities - we've developed a vast knowledge of building issues, a proven ability to stage and phase construction in and around occupied buildings, and a patience for working with committees.

A firm with history, we have not stayed mired in it however. Moving with industry changes, we complete an increasing number of construction management and design/build contracts each year. In 1999 HENRY H. LEWIS CONTRACTORS became affiliated with Richard D. Poole, Inc. and more recently with Stewart & Tate, Inc., both York, Pennsylvania based construction organizations. (HHL's company founder Henry Lewis remains president. Thomas McCracken and Warren Miller are vice-presidents.)

Backing management are some 60 estimators, project managers, superintendents, carpenters and laborers - all with an average tenure of 15 years. Such low employee turnover is due in large part to our training programs and interesting mix of work assignments, as well as HHL's safety program, health insurance, 401K and vacation benefits.
